Long time no type! Just wanted to say hi since I haven't been around here in months and months. I hope you're well and still very active here. I haven't had any time for poetry lately what with my novel work and general life stuff, but...

Actually, it's funny. I didn't come here to mention it, but now that I think about it, you were one of the people who critiqued a poem of mine that I recently found out (about an hour ago) has been accepted by UNC Charlotte's literary-arts magazine for publication. =) So I guess I owe you some thanks while I'm here, too!

Anyway, hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Cheers... maybe I'll see you at the Mimesis boards sometime if you still hang out there and if I ever get enough free time to actually waste it on the internet again. =)

by the way here's one of my best poems:

An Artist's Inkwell

The ant crawls around the rim of the deep inkwell
he shivers at the wind that pushes him over
Thinking it unkind as he falls
Down into the black mess
For little did he know
It was filled with magic as well
At first all he sees is black
Then words and colors begin to show all around
The ant thought what a kind gust of wind afterall
Music and lyrics are heard all around
Who would of thought this black puddle
Could contain such a limitless gift
Even a little ant can appreciate this
Beautiful, magical place inside the inkwell
As he wonders around, each one of his eyes captures
Some wonderful words yet to be written or wrote
He saw all that the future did hold
The best and the worst pieces of work
Unknown to the struggling poet
Sitting just outside in front of the desk
Trying to fish out an ant
Who keeps darting back in
Wishing for the very magic
Locked away inside an artist's inkwell...

hey I like your artical on the whole poetry scam thing on poetry.com

There's a few scams the worst they do you left out though. If you submit your work to them a lot they sign you up on a list & sent you false things like you've been nominated to become a vip member of our poetry society *laugh* when you click on become a member it asks for card info and how much you want to pay, that's when i think what a rip if they nominated me it should be free lol, also other stuff that's anoying & made me block them eventually is the you've won a editors choice award if you authorize us to charge your card for it we can sent you it on a plague along with the pin or whatever. Those are more fake awards if you have to pay for something you didn't win it.

Onto the main reason for this coment:

It would be nice if some writers that experianced these rip off sights would offer info to new writers out there who don't know where to write or contact for getting truely published like contact info for magazines that will publish poems or anywhere else. I haven't been able to find anywhere myself. With all these scam sites blocking the view it is very hard for a decent writer to find anywhere to get published. Well if you know anywhere I can submit my work or know anyone you mentioned in your artical that knows please let me know & maybe you can post it up for other new writers out there with same problem.

Thanks.

For all the haiku artists and other members like myself who have been participating in Haikuwrimo '07, i ran across an old piece i had in an even older inbox that hopefully will give us all a smile & a chuckle to help our efforts along. The following is a c/p so i hope it works:

"Haiku Error Messages"

In Japan, Sony Vaio machines have replaced the impersonal and unhelpful Microsoft error messages with their own Japanese haiku poetry. Each only 17 syllables.

Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.

A file that big?
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

The Web site you seek
Can not be located but
Countless more exist.

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

ABORTED effort:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask way too much.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
So beautifully.

With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence:
"My Novel" not found.

The Tao that is seen
Is not the true Tao, until
You bring fresh toner.

Stay the patient course
Of little worth is your ire
The network is down

A crash reduces
Your expensive computer
To a simple stone.

Three things are certain:
Death, taxes, and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.
