Sentence StructureI don't know what tense I'm in. Are we or were we? Will we be?

My syntax has gotten entirely mixed up and I can't find the articles I need to modify my nouns.

The subject of my sentence is a different person and number from my verb.

Prepositions have disappeared -- I am going nowhere.

You pushed me away and I am nothing but a fragment of the sentence I once was.

Night School Teacher WondersNight School Teacher Wonders

Sitting in this stupid desk and making a story up in my head as I get through this two hour class. Same old things; watch the teacher write notes on the board after showing us how to do our homework. Same old black, red and green markers, same old people who never talk, same old words the teacher is saying like "manner". He'll say "manner" more than 20 times. Sometimes I think about counting…..maybe I will next time. Then he gets to when he tells us to write down the assignments and we have to be quiet and do that the rest of the period.

But that isn't what I'm going to keep going on about. Oh no! This is about

A Relationship "You're leaving, aren't you?"

Orson stopped where he was, arms halfway into the sleeves of his favorite woolen jacket. He glanced over his shoulder and stared at Moira for a long moment. She sat on the edge of the bed, looking vulnerable and teary-eyed, the way he'd seen her so many times before. He'd thought she was still asleep. Awkwardly, he let the jacket slip back down his arms and to the floor without a sound.

"Well, yes, love, I was planning on it. I've got to get home to Vanessa and Thomas, you know, I've been here for," he checked his watch and a note of panic was visible in his dark eyes for a split second before he covered it

Teacher"Chris? A moment, if you please. I have something that I think you'll like."

The words boomed into the dark reaches of a catacomb, its wall rank with strange growths and rusty iron. A mass of misshapen figures scrambled towards a small team of soldiers in a bunker. The voice was only heard by the commander of the beleaguered defenders, a blond haired giant sporting a patch over one eye.

"What, Albert? Something good? About what?" A knot of the attackers were ripped apart by a mine, leaving a small shower of sand and gore.

A Teacher's ThingsA teacher's things

a comb and slicked blonde hair

a weared down piece of chalk
his messy writing barely legible
these are the essence him,
a teacher's things.

Need a Teacher Here He's absolutely gorgeous: light gray eyes, long lashes, dirty-blonde curls, tan skin, a fit body, a smooth, sexy voice. Plus, he dresses so sophisticated, and he's such a gentlemen, and did I mention his brains?
Too bad he's my teacher.
I can't help but gaze a little longingly at Mr. Dupree as he sits next to me at my dining room table, an open copy of Othello lying between us. It's really pathetic, me having a crush on my teacher like a little kid. Not to mention he wouldn't go for a girl like me.

Teachers-
We appreciate them all
In our own special way.
Whether we're just quiet in class,
Or sociable too.
Maybe we give gifts,
Or the occasional note.
Perhaps we simply ask a question

We were listening.

completely agree! i'm taking an editing course this semester and they're making me use commas in the AP style format. sob.

I never write commas before 'and'. It's a concatenate conjunction and commas mustn't be written before those conjunctions.

I've always been taught to use the Oxford Comma, ever since.... Maybe fifth grade? And now I'm so used to using it, I tend to flinch whenever books don't use it because it's so weird not seeing it used.

Plus, I hate how people don't even bother to use spell check when they're typing on the computer, it shouldn't be that much harder to spell things out. Makes me wonder how much lazier people are getting these days.

My teachers taught us that it was NOT an optional thing, YOU *MUST* USE THE OXFORD COMMA. Then some kids heard otherwise and dropped it. ;_;

It just makes everything neater and more organized when you use it. What if no one wrote in paragraphs? o_o
